How this calculator works
Your course grade is a weighted average of the work you have already done and the final exam. Solve that equation for the final exam score to find what you need.
Required final score = (target − current × (1 − w)) ÷ w where w = final weight ÷ 100
Example: current grade 84%, final worth 30%, target 87%: (87 − 84 × 0.7) ÷ 0.3 = 94%.
If the result is above 100%, the target cannot be reached without extra credit. If it is 0% or less, you have already secured that grade. If other work is still ungraded, open the advanced section: the calculator then uses target × 100 = current × graded weight + other score × other weight + final score × final weight.
